BHS & Sports Direct VS National Living Wage & Auto-Enrolment
Are we any closer to building a just society?

Philip Green and Mike Ashley have made huge personal fortunes from British business. Meanwhile BHS has gone bust and employment practices at Sports Direct have attracted widespread criticism. In a global market where workers in India, China and elsewhere are prepared to work for a dollar or two a day how can we (the UK) even start to compete while continuing to treat our workers fairly? Pay, pensions, work conditions, job security and cost of living are huge issues in the UK while those in less developed countries struggle to simply put bread on the table each day. It is a huge dilemma and one we have to get right if we’re going to build a just society.
