An offer you can’t refuse?

The vast majority live from paycheque to paycheque. But what happens if that cheque stops? What happens if you’re sick, injured or dead? Who pays the rent? Who pays for the shopping?

Those of us who work for a living have got used to the idea that one day we’ll retire and we’ll need some sort of pension to replace our income. But how do you pay today’s bills if you can no longer work through illness or injury? What happens to your home, what happens to you, what happens to your family?

If you are lucky enough to work in the public sector you may get sick pay for a few months but then it stops, your family may get some death in service. But in the private sector any support is highly unlikely and state benefits are derisory…

PPI has made the public sceptical about insurance, but the truth is insurers pay out £13.9m per day on income protection, critical illness cover and life assurance – that’s a record breaking £5bn annually and according to the Association of British Insurers 97.8% of claims were paid in 2017. Now that’s an offer that really is very hard to refuse…
